Red Carpet Ready: Lydia McLaughlin at the Nobleman Wine & Dine Experience

Lydia McLaughlin at the Nobleman Wine and Dine Experience

Some events call for makeup that whispers. This one called for makeup that could hold its own on a red carpet, under camera flashes, and through an entire evening of wine, dining, and photographs — without a single touch-up moment guaranteed.

I had the pleasure of doing makeup for Lydia McLaughlin for the Nobleman Wine & Dine Experience at the stunning Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach. Lydia wore an emerald green corseted gown, so we designed a look to match its elegance: luminous, sculpted skin with a soft bronzed glow, a subtly smoked eye to bring out her features on camera, and a polished nude lip that let the gown and her diamond necklace do the talking.

Red carpet makeup is its own art form. Flash photography flattens color and exaggerates texture, so every product choice matters — skin prep to keep the base breathable over a long evening, cream products layered under powder for dimension that reads beautifully in photos, and long-wear formulas that look as fresh at the end of the night as they did at first application.

Seeing Lydia glowing in front of the step-and-repeat, surrounded by an incredible lineup of sponsors and guests, was the kind of moment that reminds me why I love on-location event beauty.

Getting ready for your own red carpet moment? I'd love to design a look for you.
